Blanched Bright Green Beans With Browned Butter Almonds
Blanched Green Beans With Browned Butter Almonds
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and cut in half
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds (Don’t substitute with slivered. They don’t work well for this recipe. See Alex’s Favorite Green Beans for slivered.)
Instructions
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the green beans and when the water returns to a boil set timer for 5 minutes, or until crisp tender.
While the beans are boiling heat a large skillet on medium high and add 3 tablespoons butter. When melted add the almonds. Sauté until the butter browns and the almonds are starting to turn brown and immediately remove from the heat and stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter.
Drain the beans and transfer then to a serving dish and sprinkle them with salt and pepper. Top with the almonds.
Best eaten right away because the almonds become soggy when it’s been refrigerated.
